WORK DESCRIPTION

My work is designated to which for archaeologists and anthropologists is a clear sign of organized society:

THE ARCHITECTURAL SPACE

It is human to design a specific space on basis of every specific wish, this is a universal need. Architects are tied hand and feet to clients, patrons, restrictions, functionalities and budgets. My spaces stand free from architectural conventions, and have not been designed for a fixed function or location. I have build them to portray an extraordinary and new spatial experience, I am interested in common spatial problems and the restraints within architecture. Fundamental to my work is portraval of the physical space related to the specific environment within the archetectural space. The environment others create for themselves can be used as a starting point as well.

With various means, such as drawings, wall drawings, photographic pictures and scale models i realize architectural spaces. The bounderies of a space are changed continuously. In the wall drawings the excisting situation is the starting point. After having analyzed the space, i develop a concept which highlights of denies certain characteristics of the space. Reality and drawing blend into each other.
The drawings are bound to the space of realication. In the scale models, spaces come into being whitch show an absolute architectural character and looks very realistic.

My fascination for cellars, underground spaces, factory buildings and restrooms in buildings can be traced in my artwork. The scale models are the basis for photographic pictures to be taken. Using light and shadow i enforce certain forms and atmospheres in them. The pictures are reproduced in wall-size and cause an interaction between the real and the created space. Working on this i realized that the scale models possess their own qualities and they form the grammer, so to speak, for the development of architectural spaces, being presented life-size.

Photography is an important aspect of my work. In fact the qualities of a building are not reproducible by photography.Pictures of a building are misleading and offer an unreal image. We get disoriented, as only a few details of the space are to be seen. Function and location are often not visible, Especially these characteristics i use in my photographic pictures, These pictures are autonomous works of art and are shown separatly from the scale models.
